Meet the Teacher

Open House Week

Well hello dear reader!
Today was a semi first day for me.  The kids came in two groups of ten for about 45 minutes.  I spent most of the time with the parents…having them fill out forms, talking about our day, and calming nerves.  My FANTASTIC teacher’s assistant took the kids for a tour of the school.  Turns out I needed to go along on that tour because I can’t figure out my way around that place!  The kids and parents seems super sweet and I’m excited for a new FABULOUS school year!
NOW…I’ve been home for about 20 minutes…I’ve got my grown-up juice and I’m ready to blog!

I am participating in TBA’s linky party.  I should have started yesterday…but since today was the first day for me…I’ll start today.

Meet the Teacher
Well…I’m a Texas girl through and through!  Although I wasn’t born there..I got there as soon as I could!  I was born in Germany on an Army base.  I was raised in the west Texas town of El Paso, went to Austin College in Sherman, Texas and started my teaching career in Austin.

Although I don’t have any real children, I have one furry baby! He’s huge…HUGE!  It took Mr. Roboto and my super strength to load him into the bathtub yesterday for a doggie shower!  He’s huge.  Before we made the move to the East Coast, we lost our other furry baby.  She decided to run away one day while I was gone…She was a Shitzu/Lhasa Apso mix and was 13 or 14 years old.  She
was a grouchy old thing…but we loved her!
I started teaching in 2006.  Five of those six years were spent in WONDERFUL Kindergarten…I looped up only one time to first grade.  Those kids were the most amazing class.  They are currently in fifth grade and I hate not being there to see them grow this year.
As many of you know…I’m currently teaching Kindergarten in Bedford.  I LOVE this town.  They really seem to appreciate teachers.  It’s nice to constantly feel supported and considered a professional!  I really want to do a great job this year and I have amazing support.
I think I am LOTS of fun!  I love to sing, dance and get crazy!  Ain’t no party like a Corbett party!
I’ve worked really hard to become better organized…It seems to be paying off this year. I’ve received a lot of compliments on how neat and organized things are in my room!  Just got to keep it up-that’s the hard part!
WELL…enough about me!  I’m off to enjoy my grown-up juice and a nice slice of pizza.  Happy year everyone!
Check in tomorrow for pics of my room!
