Write the room and more...much more!

I LOVE my Count the Room activity!
More importantly, my kids love it!  They love to get up and inventory everything they find.  Here are a couple of pics of one of my kiddos counting the room.

If you are interested in trying the activity out in your classroom...click here!  I also have a Halloween version that my kiddos love.  You can check that one out here.

More on the wedding.. We booked a venue!!! We will be getting married at an amazing venue in Austin.  It's in an old church and it's beautiful.  It is the first MAJOR step towards our happy day and I am so so so so very excited!

As many of you know I live on the East Coast...We were hit with the major storm Sandy this week. Thankfully, we had power and gas the entire time the storm passed over us.  Can you believe it?  So blessed!  It was my very first tropical storm/hurricane.  I was freaking out. The wind blew so hard the house shook!  We are safe and happy and healthy.  Here's a pic of our street earlier this morning.

While I was locked away in my house...I spent my time working on a couple of things.
1)  Halloween Treat Bags
I made these treat bags last year for my coworkers and they loved them.  So, I thought it would be great to do it again this year for my new coworkers.  I found the idea on Pinterest, but I changed some things just a bit.  I wish we could give the kids a sweet treat...I think the kiddos would enjoy these as well.  Here are some pics.

I uploaded a copy for you if you are interested. Click the picture below to download.

I also worked on a game board packet.  It's full of different games for kiddos to practice essential skills.  Students can work on numerical fluency, one-to-one correspondence, short vowel practice, sight word practice and much more.  Oh! I made each game in color and black and white (I hate wasting color ink!).  I even added spinners.

Thank you and Happy Birthday!

Hi dear reader!
These last few weeks have been exhausting for me.
How 'bout y'all?
I feel like I can barely get in front of everything that I have/want to do.
Sad thing is...I LOVE October...I love the fall and I love Halloween...and I've just been too stressed to really enjoy the fact that this is one of my favorite months.

I know that the month is a little more than half way over but I am going to enjoy the cooler weather, eat tons of candy, and plan my Halloween costume!

Moving right along.

The other day one of my kiddos came into the classroom and saw his morning work waiting for him.  He sat down and said, "Ms. Corbett, why do you give us the same...WAIT! It's different!  It's HARDER!"  He started in on his work and realized it wasn't as hard as he thought.  Because the morning work increases in difficulty throughout the month, he knew what the he was supposed to do and the best way to complete the work.  Soon he was singing the Alphabet song to remind him of the letter that followed after H.  He went to our classroom calendar to figure out what day of the week it was.  He was problem solving and my heart soared!  This is not some advertisement for my Morning Work packet...it's just...I LOVE those moments in teaching.  When they don't need you as much...when they recognize a challenge and rise up to meet it.  LOVE IT!

To top it off...I've been receiving messages of gratitude from other teachers who have purchased the Morning Work packet...they are so pleased with it and their students seem to like it as well.
That makes my heart happy.  The idea that other children are benefiting from something I've worked on ...kiddos I'll never meet...happy heart!

All that being said I just wanted to say another HUGE thank you!  Thank you to anyone who follows this blog.  Thank you to anyone who downloads my work.  Thank you to anyone who purchases items from my TpT store.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I know this is coming a little late in the school year but...
We are not allowed to celebrate birthdays with any kind of sugary treat in our classrooms...(sad, because I love me a good cupcake).
So I found this awesome "bring a book to school instead" form to send home to parents.  Now, I cannot remember or site the website where I got this from...so if you happen to know the original source please let me know.  I altered the wording a little and added some clipart.  It's free here for you.  I hope you can use it in your classroom.

After 6 Episodes of Doctor Who....

Well hello dear reader!
I know it's been a HOT minute.  I apologize. But I come bearing gifts...keep reading.

So I spent most of today running errands and doing laundry.  I finally took a second to sit down and watch a little T.V.  That's when I remembered I am not up to date on my Doctor Who episodes! I am a geek for Doctor Who...anyone else?  It's just so good! SO GOOD!

Well I've spent most of my evening trying to bake baguettes, (they turned out more like vomuettes and I had to chuck them) making roasted garlic potato soup, and finishing a little sumtin sumtin!

As y'all know I am trying to plan my wedding.  We are thinking of getting married in December 2013 in Austin.  So I'm racking my brain for ideas, how to's and what not.  If any of you are professional wedding helper/destressors please gimme a shout!
I am trying to create GREAT things for our classrooms!  All funds from my TpT store/Teachers Notebook store are going directly to Ms. Corbett's wedding fund!  I appreciate anyone who has taken the time to browse through my store and make a purchase.  THANK YOU!

My Morning Activities for the month of October is on sale from now until the end of October.  Dia de los Muertos is soon and my packet is only $3.

ANYWHO...while I watched the wonderful episodes of Doctor Who I completed my Morning Activities for the month of November!  Again, the activities get progressively more difficult to ensure a challenge for your kiddos.  This set will allow your students to practice beginning, middle and final sounds, sight word practice, numeral recognition, and much more!  These activities have been a big hit! Here's a quick peek.

I'm so excited about these monthly activities! If you have any suggestions for me...please let me know!
Now dear reader...the moment you've been waiting for!  Click here to receive your own copy.  It will only be available until 11:00 p.m. tonight!  Let me know what you think!

Would you rather like to receive a few pages from the packet for free forever?

Please leave me a comment below with your vote.  It will definitely determine how I share from now on.

Thanks y'all!

4th Gr Flipper

So...I've been trying to get a couple of packets finished and ready for y'all.  I am working on a Dia de los Muertos packet and a Morning Activities for the month of November.  I am loving the Morning Activities for October!  It is my best seller so far.  I have received some great compliments on the packet and my kids really like it.  It's easy enough for them to understand with very little help from me.  It's also great because the activities get progressively more difficult.  It also has become a great quick assessment for me.  I am able to see the kiddos who need a little more help with initial sounds, writing or counting.  I keep their papers and store them in my data assessment binder.  Love it!

In celebration of Columbus Day, I decided to have a sale at both my TpT store and my Teachers Notebook store.  Everything is 20% off!  Click on the pictures below to go to either store.

This is what a nonfat raspberry mocha does to you at 6 p.m.

Technology is awesome.
I am speaking this entire post as I drive home from work.
This post is full of nonsensical nonsense.
I need to come clean, I have an obsession with clip art.  I love the clipart from KPM Doodles.  Her stuff is great!  Best of all she's having a sale!  She is setting up her new website and while it is under construction, all her clipart is 50 percent off!
How awesome!
Speaking of sales...
You know how I love a good bargain... well Banana Republic is having a 35 percent off sale!  I bought 5 of these shirts.

5! Who needs 5 shirts?  I'm sick I tell you...

And speaking of obsessions....It's time I came clean... I have a major obsession with Britney Spears.  I loved her since she first started her career and I'm not ashamed to admit how much I really really love Britney.   I feel like if I met her in real life we would be really good friends.  And...I'm talking about normal Brit Brit...not cray cray Brit Brit.

Also, has anyone been having drama uploading on TpT?  I have been unable to load anything for days!  I had to contact them and we went through 6 email conversations before I just gave up.  Then today...while maintaining a caffeine high...I tried a different server.  I used Safari instead of Firefox and BAM! Upload extravaganza!  I now have my Morning Activities and Count the Room (Halloween Edition) on TpT.  You can find them both here.

I have Back to School night and a field trip this week so I am super busy/stressed.  I am hoping to have something for you soon...think Dia de los Muertos!

Please forgive the randomness of this post.
