OMG!!

Two quick blessings.

1)  I woke up this morning and saw that I was at 202 followers!
2)  I read the Teachers Notebook Newsletter and scrolled down to the bottom to see...
Can you see it?

My Craftivity Calendar was featured as an Item of the Week!

So blessed!
and today we go to IKEA!
Happy girl!

It's finally DONE!

I have had a serious case of the lazys...
I barely have energy to get out of bed and move to the couch.

Mr. Roboto and I are truly enjoy our winter break...a little too much.

This morning, I woke up early and got to work. I cleaned up my new office, started work on a new project and worked a little on my latest morning work packet.  Then, I went back to bed and slept ...
for 4 MORE HOURS!

Seriously.  I'm loving this break but at this rate, I can only get in about an hour of productivity.

Whatevs.  That's what vacation is for.

So after my early morning nap...I got right back to work on my morning work for January and now...it's finished!

I'm happy with it!  Really happy...I included some planet information in this packet.

I LOVE SPACE!
When I was younger, I wanted to be an astronaut.  I even wrote a letter to N.A.S.A.  They sent me tons of goodies.  I secretly geek out when it comes to space..It's just so amazing!

Anywho!  It's now 11:00 p.m. here so I'll keep this up as a freebie for an hour.  I hope most of you are night owls like myself. You can purchase a copy here or here.

I'm also participating in a giveaway.  There are some pretty sweet goodies to win so make sure you stop by and enter for a chance to win.

Hope you all are enjoying your break!

Testing, Testing...

I have test anxiety.

Any time I have to take a major test...I have a panic attack and freeze up.

I
HATE
TESTS!

Today, I have to take one of three tests to earn my certification here in Massachusetts.
I'm hoping everything goes smoothly but...
I'm freaking out.

Please send happy vibes out for me.

I also decided to join up with some other bloggers and through a quick sale...just a pre-holiday treat!

Click on the pic below to go to my TpT store.

Enjoy your break.  Rest up, relax, rejoice!

Calendar Craftivity

Wow.

We've been working on a project to give to our loved ones for the holidays.  The kids have been making a craft based on a monthly theme.  I'll take their work and turn it into a calendar for the upcoming year.  I think it'll make a sweet keepsake for parents.  Here's a peek.

The craftivity packet also comes with the months for 2013 (updated yearly) to make the calendar.  The kids are really loving this...They are getting a kick out of the cute phrases for each month. They also really love the idea of having something to give to their families.  I've also made one for 2014 just in case you don't have enough time to have these made and ready for next year.

There's a free download available in my  TpT store.

Have a happy week.
Smile, love and be happy!

What a sad day.

Thinking of the families in Connecticut.

Today we lost too many lives. Take a little time in the next few days to put a little good back into the world.  Help a stranger, hug your friends and family, take care of each other.

Love, love, love.

Wow!

I just want to say SORRY!

I know it's been a hot minute since I've posted anything...
Things have been crazy.
The last two weeks have been full of:
parent/teacher conferences
holiday staff party
wedding planning
creating
studying for my MTEL (Massachusetts certification)

I got a little really overwhelmed and let my blogging slide.

SORRY.  I come bearing gifts.

So this past Saturday Mr. Roboto and I celebrated out pre-wedding anniversary! This time next year I'll be a married woman!

THAT'S CRAZY!
And of course my neurosis won't let me just sit and enjoy the engagement period..I've got to make everything...NOW.

My save the dates are finished.  They just need to be approved by Mr. Roboto.
I'm ridiculous.

I need to see someone.
Maybe after the wedding.

So today I said to myself, "Vera, take it easy. Watch some T.V. and relax."

and then...I made another Morning Work packet...for August.
Boom!

So it's yours for free! You can get your own copy here.
Until I'm done with my taco dinner. (it was yummy!) Hope you can use this next year.

GIMME ALL YOUR FRIGGIN' APPLES

Hello dear bloggers!
I bet you're thinking...uh what is with that title!?
You straight trippin' boo.

Well, I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine...and she had texted me earlier about a funny(sorta) story.

And it goes a little something like this...

One year I was reading a book to my kinder darlings.  I think I was doing an author study on Eric Carle or Leo Lionni....I can't remember.  ANYWAYS after I read the story I decided to show them an animated version on YouTube.  We watched a short clip...then they begged me to watch another.  We did....then they begged for another and I couldn't resist their charming ways....So I decided we would watch ONE more and I would choose.  I noticed that YouTube had a list of suggestions to the right of the video and one of those suggestions was The Giving Tree.

I LOVE Shel Silverstein..He makes my heart happy.  And I was so excited to share that story to my little ones.  Many of them had never heard it so I thought....Ok, we could watch this story and move on with our day.

I clicked play.

The video started and it was all good...until.

I noticed the story line seemed a little different...the little boy was saying something about his parents dying in a fire...I quickly grabbed the mouse to hit stop because I had a funny feeling this wasn't the story of The Giving Tree that I was familiar with.

Well I moved too slow because...

The next thing I (and my room full of 5 year olds) hear is the little boy demanding that the tree give him all "your friggin' apples!"  BUT THE BOY DIDN'T SAY FRIGGIN' HE ACTUALLY CURSED!

I died. DIED!

I had to have a conversation with my littles, send a note home, and let the principal know what happened.

Everyone was really supportive about the whole thing but...I was a wreck.

ACK!  It's a funny story NOW...

Beware of YouTube...it's not always what it seems.

Well I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...I cooked all day...then ate all night.  Then shopped the next day...Then got my creating on!

Write the room and more...much more!

I LOVE my Count the Room activity!
More importantly, my kids love it!  They love to get up and inventory everything they find.  Here are a couple of pics of one of my kiddos counting the room.

If you are interested in trying the activity out in your classroom...click here!  I also have a Halloween version that my kiddos love.  You can check that one out here.

More on the wedding.. We booked a venue!!! We will be getting married at an amazing venue in Austin.  It's in an old church and it's beautiful.  It is the first MAJOR step towards our happy day and I am so so so so very excited!

As many of you know I live on the East Coast...We were hit with the major storm Sandy this week. Thankfully, we had power and gas the entire time the storm passed over us.  Can you believe it?  So blessed!  It was my very first tropical storm/hurricane.  I was freaking out. The wind blew so hard the house shook!  We are safe and happy and healthy.  Here's a pic of our street earlier this morning.

While I was locked away in my house...I spent my time working on a couple of things.
1)  Halloween Treat Bags
I made these treat bags last year for my coworkers and they loved them.  So, I thought it would be great to do it again this year for my new coworkers.  I found the idea on Pinterest, but I changed some things just a bit.  I wish we could give the kids a sweet treat...I think the kiddos would enjoy these as well.  Here are some pics.

I uploaded a copy for you if you are interested. Click the picture below to download.

I also worked on a game board packet.  It's full of different games for kiddos to practice essential skills.  Students can work on numerical fluency, one-to-one correspondence, short vowel practice, sight word practice and much more.  Oh! I made each game in color and black and white (I hate wasting color ink!).  I even added spinners.

Thank you and Happy Birthday!

Hi dear reader!
These last few weeks have been exhausting for me.
How 'bout y'all?
I feel like I can barely get in front of everything that I have/want to do.
Sad thing is...I LOVE October...I love the fall and I love Halloween...and I've just been too stressed to really enjoy the fact that this is one of my favorite months.

Well NO MORE!

I know that the month is a little more than half way over but I am going to enjoy the cooler weather, eat tons of candy, and plan my Halloween costume!

Moving right along.

The other day one of my kiddos came into the classroom and saw his morning work waiting for him.  He sat down and said, "Ms. Corbett, why do you give us the same...WAIT! It's different!  It's HARDER!"  He started in on his work and realized it wasn't as hard as he thought.  Because the morning work increases in difficulty throughout the month, he knew what the he was supposed to do and the best way to complete the work.  Soon he was singing the Alphabet song to remind him of the letter that followed after H.  He went to our classroom calendar to figure out what day of the week it was.  He was problem solving and my heart soared!  This is not some advertisement for my Morning Work packet...it's just...I LOVE those moments in teaching.  When they don't need you as much...when they recognize a challenge and rise up to meet it.  LOVE IT!

To top it off...I've been receiving messages of gratitude from other teachers who have purchased the Morning Work packet...they are so pleased with it and their students seem to like it as well.
That makes my heart happy.  The idea that other children are benefiting from something I've worked on ...kiddos I'll never meet...happy heart!

All that being said I just wanted to say another HUGE thank you!  Thank you to anyone who follows this blog.  Thank you to anyone who downloads my work.  Thank you to anyone who purchases items from my TpT store.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
THANK YOU!

I know this is coming a little late in the school year but...
We are not allowed to celebrate birthdays with any kind of sugary treat in our classrooms...(sad, because I love me a good cupcake).
So I found this awesome "bring a book to school instead" form to send home to parents.  Now, I cannot remember or site the website where I got this from...so if you happen to know the original source please let me know.  I altered the wording a little and added some clipart.  It's free here for you.  I hope you can use it in your classroom.
